Two ways to be assessed

Choose the path by what you need the paperwork to do

Both paths lead to a comprehensive, valid autism diagnosis. The difference is who leads the assessment and what the final documents unlock. If you are not sure which is right for you, that is exactly what the free information session is for.

Path 1: Nurse practitioner led

$1,774 total, paid per appointment

  • MIGDAS-2 diagnostic interview, a sensory-based, conversation-style approach
  • Psychometric self-assessments
  • Full clinical history, including physical health
  • Diagnostic letter you can use right away
  • About 3 hours of online appointments plus 3 hours of testing
  • Government forms, including the Disability Tax Credit, can be completed in one additional paid appointment

Best when

You want a medical professional's diagnosis and may need government forms such as the Disability Tax Credit. Generally not covered by insurance, but claimable on your taxes.

Path 2: Psychologist supervised

$2,800 total, paid per appointment

  • MIGDAS-2 diagnostic interview plus elements of ADOS-2
  • Limited cognitive assessment and executive functioning evaluation
  • Mental health screening, including PTSD, anxiety and depression
  • Input from a supportive person in your life
  • Accommodation letters and diagnosis letters included
  • About 4 hours of live appointments, a 1.5 hour interview, and 4 hours of offline scoring and analysis

Best when

You have extended health benefits. This path is usually covered by extended health plans as a psychological assessment, subject to your plan's limits. Fully supervised by a clinical psychologist.

A coverage detail worth knowing before you commit: part of the work is performed by a Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO). Most extended health plans cover that portion, but it counts against your annual psychotherapy allotment rather than an assessment allowance. We will walk you through what your plan covers before you spend anything.

How it works

Five steps, six to eight weeks, no surprises

1

A free one hour information session.

Every client starts with a full hour with one of our co-founders, at no cost and no obligation. Ask anything: cost, coverage, process, whether an assessment even makes sense for you. Most places give you a short call or an email chain. We give you an hour.

2

Intake and clinical history.

We take a complete history, including the things that may have been misdiagnosed along the way. If childhood records are not available, for example because you grew up in another country, we perform additional assessments at no extra cost so your diagnosis is fully defensible.

3

Assessment appointments.

Interviews and testing, scheduled around your life and paid for one appointment at a time. You can pause and resume as finances allow.

4

Diagnostic explanation.

We do not mail you a verdict. We sit with you and walk through what we found, what it means, and what it does not mean.

5

Your report and your Neurodivergent Profile.

You leave with documentation that works in the outside world and a profile that makes sense of your inside world.

Only at NeuroInclusive

The Neurodivergent Profile

A diagnosis tells the world what you are. The Neurodivergent Profile tells you who you are. It is a personal document, written for you and about you, that explains how your particular brain works: why you are always so tired, why the classroom was easier than the hallway, why small talk drains you and deep conversation does not.

The diagnosis is written for the world. The Profile is written for you.

As far as we know, nobody else offers it. It is included with every autism assessment, on both paths.

Our approach

Affirming and rigorous are not opposites

Affirming, because it is about you

We use neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based language. We honour your neurotype and avoid deficit framing. Our practice is trauma informed, SOGIE and trans-affirming, and we are registered with Rainbow Health Ontario.

Many of our clients are adults who were missed as children because they do not match the stereotype. We know that presentation well, and we assess for it deliberately.

Rigorous, because your paperwork has to work

Assessments use standardized clinical tools and DSM-5 criteria, with the psychologist path fully supervised by a clinical psychologist.

Where the report describes your diagnosis in clinical terms, it says so explicitly: this is not our language, it is the language of the DSM-5, and here is how each criterion is met.

The result is a diagnosis that holds up with employers, universities, physicians and institutions. You get the validation and the paperwork, without one undermining the other.

Is this for you?

Who we assess

This may be for you if you are:

  • An adult, 18 or over, living in Ontario
  • Questioning whether you are autistic, or already fairly sure and needing the formal diagnosis
  • Seeking self-understanding, with or without pursuing a diagnosis
  • Feeling like a lifelong outsider, or finding that functioning gets more exhausting every year
  • In burnout, or recently told by a therapist that an assessment might explain a great deal
  • Needing workplace or academic accommodations backed by real documentation

We are not able to assess:

  • Anyone under 18
  • Anyone living outside Ontario
  • Nonverbal clients
  • On the nurse practitioner path: clients actively experiencing dissociation or drinking above recommended limits, because both obscure the diagnostic picture. The psychologist path may still be possible; ask us.

If we are not the right fit, we will say so at the free information session, before you have spent anything.

Why our process looks the way it does

NeuroInclusive was founded by autistic people, and our assessment process was designed by our founder, a Registered Psychotherapist who was diagnosed autistic very late in life, after decades of being missed. It is built on specialized master's studies in autism and years of experience as a practising therapist, and shaped by knowing firsthand what it is like to sit on the other side of the table.

That is why every assessment starts with a free hour of your questions, why our reports are strengths-based as well as clinically rigorous, and why nobody here will ever treat your story as a checklist.
